I'm using a lite version of windows x64 and it has firewall. If you have no windows firewall, than this guide is not for you, and you'll have to use external tools like vpn lifeguard or comodo.

there are a lot more tools, try google ;)

as njmg mentioned, comodo firewall should work aswell. vpnetmon or vpncheck e.g.

Works great with Comodo (i used v6.10)

uses about 5 mb ram and 0% processor.

My VPN normally have the ip 1xx.xxx.1.10, but if i use it with another client it could be 11 or 12 at the end so i made a ip range.

I have been using this trick for over a week and have tested it on other programs and have had the opportunity to see it in action on POE one time and it works perfectly.  It's pretty beautiful.  I use it in addition to VPN lifeguard for the purpose of monitoring disconnects.
