Are you using the steam client or stand-alone? Also winXP has alot of problems..

Make sure you're running the game in 800x600 window resolution, your character is in the first slot of the selection screen and character_to_use= is "0", that you're using standalone PoE and also winXP has alot of problems.

It appears so abad, you don't use your real name when you sign up. In reality only the confirmation number is needed, not your name.

I don't think Path of Exile developers are sophisticated enough to track player to player trades, and if you use a completely different ip address with your mule account then you should absolutely be in the clear.
